WHAT IS BOTOX®?

Time takes its toll on everyone, especially when it comes to the skin. Smooth and luminous complexions are often real casualties of time. People often find new creases, hollows and lax skin as the years pass. However, we’ve had a weapon against these prominent signs of ageing since injectables first became popular. Botox® is a neurotoxin, which blocks the release of acetylcholine, and when injected accurately into the muscle, it interferes with the signal, which prevents the muscle from fully contracting.

As we age and through repeated muscle use over time, the skin creases in the most active areas. The ageing process causes a gradual decline in collagen and elastin production in the skin, meaning that certain areas suffer damage and succumb to fine lines and wrinkles as we get older. Botox® treatment reduces muscle movement in these areas and the overlying skin smooths out, allowing deep lines to soften and fade as the skin recovers.

Botox® is utilised to minimse the appearance of deep and dynamic lines, sometimes erasing fine lines altogether. The injection interferes with the communications sent from the nerves to the muscles. Small quantities are safely and precisely injected directly into the muscle for natural-looking results

On average, the results of Botox® treatments tend to last up to 3-4 months. This can vary slightly from patient to patient.

First-time patients will be asked back 2-3 weeks later for a follow-up appointment to see if we have achieved the preferred effect that they were looking to gain from their treatment.

Richard firmly believes in a thorough initial assessment and always undertakes an in-depth medical assessment prior to any treatment. He believes that Botox® can work very well with other aesthetic treatments, such as Dermal Fillers, PDO Threads, or Mesolift. Combining treatments allows for a full approach to antiageing that enhances your results, and full assessment by Richard will help to decide what combination is most suitable for you.
